At the Park with Dad
May 19, 2010There are many things that have gotten soooo much easier now that the boys are older. Like no more bottles and eating every 3 hours! And being on a more predictable schedule. But we’re on to new challenges. Like taking the boys to the park by myself. Not easy now that they are walking (fast) and usually not in the same direction. The more common scenario is Adam stuffing his mouth with rocks/dirt while Alex is running off, and of course they do this at the exact same time! I wonder if they’ve worked that out? So it is a special treat to have Jason with us:

Visit to Abuela’s House
February 17, 2010We just returned from a three week visit to Abuela’s house in Colorado (we call Sarita’s mom Abuela which is grandma in spanish, and Jason’s mom is Oma which is german). It was such a blessing for us to spend such a good amount of time with Abuela as we don’t get to see her as much as we’d like to.

Last week sun; this week rain
January 22, 2010Last week though we had plenty of fun in the sun! Some friends of ours (who also had twin boys) gave us some great toys, which includes two really cool 4-wheelers:

Notice that they are both proudly wearing their University of Wyoming football jerseys (mom’s alma mater). We’re still celebrating their victory in the New Mexico Bowl against Fresno State.
One of their favorite games these days is chase. They love to chase mom, but it’s really cute when they chase each other. If Alex sees Adam crawling towards him, he screams in laughter and crawls away. Today, Adam actually caught on to this game and finally caught Alex at which point they rolled around & laughed together. I guess I would consider that their first wrestling moment. Here’s a picture of Alex chasing after mom:

Hello to the new, Goodbye to the old
October 2, 2009This summer we said goodbye to some old stuff and introduced some new stuff:

Goodbye to our boogie board (and playing on the countertop yikes!!)

Goodbye to tummy time on the bed (we roll too much now)

Alex loves his new walker (but can still only go in reverse)

A new place to sit and play!
And finally…..hello to the days of holding our own bottle!! This is a huge help for me when both boys are hungry at the same time. Now I can put one in the bouncy chair while he feeds himself. I still try to feed them separately so I can hold them while they eat, plus it’s much less stressful (trying to burp, dropping bottles, etc.). It’s nice to have options though.

And goodbye to the days of rocking babies to sleep all day long! You’ve probably heard all about my issues getting the boys to nap. For a while, I was doing a lot of rocking or walking to get them to fall asleep (and stay asleep). After some very tough weeks and after a tough decision to separate them into different rooms, I think we’ve gotten pretty good at naptime (for now until they change again!)

Goodbye to sharing a crib too!! Although that one we said goodbye to a long time ago. Even a short time together in a crib these days has ended in scratches or cries.

And to think we shared a crib for 3 months

Goodbye to hats that are too small now (and we never even wore!)

And hello to hats that are too big

Adam’s on the Move
July 20, 2009This week Adam started to roll over. He’s still trying to master the skill, but is learning fast. On Thursday I laid Adam on his play mat while I went to change Alex’s diaper. When I came back, he was on his stomach with his arm stuck underneath. He was also getting upset because he couldn’t figure out how to turn back over. But by the end of the day, he was turning both directions. Now everytime I lay him down, he tries to practice the roll. Was I excited? Yes…..until I found out he now wants to practice rolling while I change his diaper. I’m thinking he might have been slightly motivated to turn so he could see the TV. I laid him down facing away from the TV and both Alex and Adam love to stare at the TV when it’s on.

Busted!

Need a little help please!

Meet Adam and Alex
May 30, 2009Born March 26, 2009 at 12:08 and 12:09pm:
Adam Jefferson Lemons – 7 lbs 4 oz
Alexander William Lemons – 5 lbs 11 oz
It’s been two months since the birth of our boys and I’m just now making the time to write about it. Needless to say, taking care of two babies is soooo challenging and very time consuming. But it has also been the greatest blessing and by far the best time of our lives! Adam was head down and first to be born. He was in that same position for each of the ultrasounds during pregnancy. Alex, however, switched positions each time we saw him. Since Alex was breeched the last few weeks, the doctors recommended a cesarean.
It was a relatively quick surgery and our operating team was fantastic. After the spinal block, I didn’t feel much besides a little tugging. But 4 hours afterwards, I felt all of the discomforts and disadvantages of a c-section. Miserable! Jason suffered too. I had such a hard time getting around that he got to do most of the baby care in the hospital. Between changing diapers, swaddling babies, and helping mom, he said that during those 4 days it was the hardest he had worked in his life.
But praise God, everything went really well. Both Adam and Alex were very healthy. We avoided all of the complications that are typical for twins and premature labor. Adam had a touch of jaundice, but it was so slight he didn’t even need any treatment. Alex was losing too much weight the first 2 days and we had a hard time feeding him. He wasn’t interested in eating and had such a small suck. But those are relatively simple issues and we just felt so blessed to have two good healthy sons!

Almost there!
March 24, 2009We have so much to thank God for during this pregnancy! Just being pregnant has been a HUGE blessing! But we’ve also had a very good and thankfully uneventful pregnancy. I was able to work through the 37th week, which is much more than I expected with twins. And the babies seem to be growing and healthy. Their estimated weights last Friday were 7 lbs 1 oz and 6 lbs 4 oz. And they keep telling me they’re coming any day now!!

New camera, New Cribs, New Phase in Life!
March 23, 2009Seems like we’ve been buying a lot of new stuff these days to get ready for the babies. I think the babies’ room is pretty much ready, thanks to the help of WONDERFUL friends who have already survived the newborn phase and helped me get organized (Kristy, Ginette, Juli, Julie I can’t thank you enough!). Photos of the new cribs and from the new camera:
